Finding Your Inner Hero

Questions I'll Answer

- What's the difference between virtues and values?

- Why are core values so important?

- How do I find my core values?

- Anything else I should know?

Values Vs Virtues

Values. If you ask the Oxford Dictionary what’s the difference between values and virtues, it says that your values “are what you give value to in life.” Values can be assigned at many levels: individual, family, company, church, nation, etc. Most individuals are taught and adopt their values growing up.

Virtues. Virtues, on the other hand, are qualities of character “deemed to be moral, good and right.” By some underlying common ground, virtues are meaningful to all of humanity.Virtue arises from living in alignment with core values. For example, Abraham Lincoln stood for freedom and equality, Robin Hood stood for fairness and justice, and hit film character, “Rocky” starring Sylvester Stallone, demonstrated loyalty and hope; finally, Mother Teresa lived a life devoted to compassion. All heroes are committed to one or two core values, and that is their virtue.

Understanding Core Values

Core values define what you care about and give you clarity and confidence. And regardless of your beliefs, your core values smolder or blossom within.Contrary to Oxford’s definition of “values,” core values are not taught or assigned by you. Rather, it’s probably more accurate to say your core values are you. You are born with and will die with your core values. Heroes are simply those who become conscious of and take a stand for their own core values.

Who am I? Why am I here?!

Most heroes have asked, “Who am I?” and “Why am I here?” These questions haunt the path of personal growth and spirituality. It’s a leap forward in self-awareness to identify your own core values. Until you know your core values, you do not know who you are. A virtuous world would be a world in which every individual knows and lives their core values. Such would be a world of heroes.

For these individuals, values are an inexhaustible source of inner power that energizes them to no end; driving them to the heights of success, while bringing about deep fulfillment in their lives. The most successful people are constantly evaluating their values, and are continually driven to turn them into a living reality. Values make sure you're doing the right actions and the results tend to be amplified.

How It Works:

  1. Review list of values
  2. Choose anything that catches your eye (usually 50-100)
  3. Filter list (20-30)
  4. Filter list (top 10)
  5. Filter list (top 5)
  6. Write them down
  7. Put them somewhere you'll see them
